  Starting & Training Young Horses

  Media

What we teach begins when you first walk into the yard or paddock and introduce yourself to your horse.

With this in mind, we consider it vital that the adults of tomorrow have an awareness that communication with horses is possible. Not only that, it becomes a valuable tool in creating a long-term partnership of trust, respect, and confidence for both the horse and rider.

The herd of two can be utilised to develop natural horsemanship between you and your horse as you continue to enhance your horsemanship skills.

To achieve the goal, of introducing as many young riders to natural horsemanship as possible, we offer a free workshop which encompasses both classroom discussion and practical demonstrations.
The demonstrations would include:

  1. Creating a partnership with your horse, where your horse will come to you and then stay with you.
  2. Starting a new horse and introducing its first saddle, bridle, and rider.
  3. Training a horse to enter a float freely and willingly.

The demonstrations will be interspersed with classroom discussions. These discussions will explain how the communication takes place and what benefits such communication will create for both the horse and rider. For example, find out how to improve your self-esteem and self-confidence through the messages you are communicating to your horse for dressage and show jumping tasks.

We suggest that the club requests a nominal donation attendance fee which can benefit the club. In return all we ask is that a paid one-day or five-day clinic be promoted for the following day. Certificates will be awarded to participants.

Please see the Clinics and Demonstrations for program outlines.
